I recently acquired a Yamaha VL70m and a Yamaha WX-5 from someone who had taken really good care of both of them. I'm excited to learn how to play a wind instrument through synthesis, and I want to take a crack at creating sounds on the VL70m. Of course, the user-interface is a bit of a disaster to program any patches on, so I went looking for a MIDI editor that I can use as a plugin from my DAW. This naturally led me to Midi Quest 13, which boasts an extensive list of supported hardware synths (and an extensive price tag to boot![:P]( "Razz")
). Unfortunately, it requires iLok to run, which I view as a big no-no, for reasons I won't get into at the moment, as that could be (and has been) a separate topic of discussion.
Are there any comparable editors/midi librarians that do not require iLok?
